On the screen, a massive Tiger Shark was visible for a fraction of a second, its nose inches from where Sammy’s fins had been.

The octopus hadn’t been “clinging” out of affection. It had sensed the shark’s electrical field and used the divers as a biological mask to hide its own signature. By holding onto both Sammy and Angel, it had effectively “erased” itself from the shark’s senses. The octopus didn’t find friends that day; it found the perfect suit of armor.
