We turned off the highway onto a dirt logging road. The trees grew dense, blotting out the afternoon sun. “Where are we going?” I asked. “To the only place they can’t see us,” he replied. “Your father built a failsafe. A vault. He said if this day ever came, you were the only one who could open it.”
